Chocolate Dipped Spoons

What You Need:

Plastic spoons
2 small microwave-safe bowls
Chocolate chips
Different sprinkles for toppings
A rimmed baking sheet, lined with parchment or waxed paper

What You Do:

  1. Line the baking sheet with paper and set aside. Place toppings in small bowls and set aside.
  2. Place chocolate chips in one bowl and microwave, stirring every 15 seconds, until thoroughly melted.
  3. Show your child how to dip the spoons in chocolate until the bowl of the spoon is well-coated. Do not dip the entire spoon. Set each spoon aside on the baking sheet to cool and dry.
  4. Repeat process with white chocolate, dipping cooled spoons in white chocolate. Leave some of the dark chocolate showing above the white chocolate.
  5. Sprinkle the white chocolate portion of the spoons with the toppings of your choice before setting aside to cool. When thoroughly cooled, wrap in sheets of cellophane and ribbons to give as gifts or use to stir warm milk or coffee.

holidays around the world.pngA Book for Every Day

A fun advent idea to countdown the days until Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanza. Shop at a children’s consignment store such as “Once Upon a Child” or “Goodwill” to get your books in good condition for only around $1. Also you can get inexpensive books from ordering from our school catalogs through scholastic books. This is a good alternative to candy. Promotes literacy and counting!

Cookie Decorating

Children love to help in the kitchen-it gives them a chance learn about math and to be creative! Share recipes with your child that have been passed down to you from your parents.

Have a Christmas Movie Night

Enjoy those holiday classics, your kids will bound to love them! Make some popcorn and spend some time together!
