VPK to Kindergarten

School Choice is now open for VPK children eligible for Kindergarten this fall.  Your child’s teachers have probably already talked to you about this transition and what needs to be done.  An Information Sheet was placed in your Parent File.  Be sure to ask if you have questions. We are here to help!

Preschool (Purple Room) Parents

FloridaVPK_Horizontal.pngYour child is eligible for our Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program this fall.  Children who turn 4 on or before September 1 can move into VPK.

For parents not familiar with VPK, it is a program that prepares your child for kindergarten.  The days and hours offered are Monday through Friday from 9am – 12 noon.  These hours are FREE, and the children must attend every day.  If after-care is needed, the cost is $110 per week.

Enrollment into a VPK program requires a Voucher that is obtained through the Early Learning Coalition.  Log into the ELC website www.elcofswfl.org and follow directions.  Please ask for help if you are having trouble.

Valentines Day

It’s never too early to help children express love and friendship in ways that transcend materialism.  Because young children are concrete thinkers, it’s hard for them to understand a concept that can’t be represented by objects.  But by watching you give gifts of kindness, time, compassion, respect, and thoughtfulness to the people you love----not just on holidays but throughout the year---they will learn that “I love you” means so much more than three words inscribed on a candy heart.

President's Day

Monday, February 20th Our center will be CLOSED for our Annual In-Service Day.

In honor of President's day we've put together few fun facts about presidents:

  • George Washington was the only president unanimously elected.
  • John Tyler had 15 children.
  • Abraham Lincoln often stored things like letters and documents in his tall stove-piped hat.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first president to appear on television.
  • The "S" in Harry S. Truman does not stand for anything.
  • John F. Kennedy was the first president who was a Boy Scout.
  • Gerald Ford was a fashion model in his youth.
  • After working at a Baskin Robbins as a teen, Barack Obama no longer likes ice cream.
