A mother holds a special place in the hearts and minds of her children.  Mother’s Day is May 12th and there is no better way to celebrate than with the whole family.

We’re sure sleeping in on Mother’s Day sounds nice and that having some alone time can make for an enjoyable day.  But doesn’t it sound like a better idea to make this holiday a family day?  We encourage you to get outside and spend some quality time with your kids and loved ones.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers from

PARENTING

familyCONNECTION REQUIRES FOUR CRITICAL ELEMENTS

Eye Contact Get down on the child’s level to achieve eye contact.  As soon as you have eye contact, download calm.  “There you are.  You are safe.  Breathe with me.  You can handle this.”
Being present In the moment means your mind and body are in the same place.  Your mind is free from chatter.  Presence is about acceptance as we join together to share the moment.  The present moment is where the joy lies.
Touch Touch is the only sense we can’t live without.  Touch creates a hormone that is essential to neural functioning and learning.  If we want smart, happy kids, then we need to provide more appropriate, caring touch.
Playfulness Playfulness helps build bonds and creates a biochemistry in the brain for dopamine.  Dopamine says, “Pay attention, stay focused.” Playful situations strengthen the dopamine system, increase attention spans, and boost social development.

MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day is a day to remember and support all military families who have sacrificed so much for us.  Display a flag, visit grave sites, and show appreciation for the men and women who have served our country.  Below is a link about the history of Memorial Day and things you can do to show you care.
