Children's Garden of Labelle Gets A Facelift

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LABELLE, FLA., March 25, 2011 – The Children’s Garden of LaBelle Child Development Center on Highway 80 has a fresh new look, thanks to the volunteer efforts of several LaBelle organizations.
Members of the LaBelle High School Key Club spent Saturday, March 5, getting the outside of the building ready to be painted. Key Club Sponsor Tracy Nobles and her students cleaned the building and areas of the playground, then taped and primed the building. All of the volunteers were fed lunch by staff from the Children’s Garden of LaBelle.
The Kiwanis Club of LaBelle, where Tracy is a member, donated $175 for brushes, tape, rollers and pans.
The following Monday, 14 employees of Monsanto in Felda came throughout the day to continue the job of painting the exterior. They brought tools and supplies and were fed lunch by the Children’s Garden of LaBelle. Special recognition is planned for Monsanto at the next Family Services Network meeting April 6.
Ace Hardware in LaBelle donated the majority of the paint and supplies. Additional rollers and tape also were donated by Life Ministries Church.
“This truly was a community effort. Everybody involved had a great time, knowing they were helping our children have a happier, cleaner place to learn,” said Sonya Flores, director of the Children’s Garden of LaBelle Child Development Center. “Special thanks go to Kim Bergh, volunteer coordinator with the United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades counties for helping us organize the volunteers.”
