AROUND THE CENTER

THANKSGIVING

The teachers are talking about the season, Halloween and Thanksgiving!  Last month the children had the opportunity to experiment with cutting open a pumpkin to see and feel what was inside of it.  This month the children will be learning about the meaning of “Thanksgiving!”  The children will be sharing in class the things that they are thankful for.  They will be making their own unique turkeys to hang around the classroom.

Thanksgiving-DinnerClassrooms will be having parties to celebrate being thankful for our friends and families. We have planned a Thanksgiving lunch.

We are very grateful to be part of your children's life and yours.  We hope that you enjoy this Holiday in good health and with your loved ones.

IFSW 2017 (68) cuttingN THE CLASSROOMS

Children are practicing fine motor, cognitive, math and early literacy skills through cutting, counting until 20, and recognizing and writing their names. Parents, we encourage you to practice this skills with your children at home too.

parent meetingWednesday, November 14th We will have our parent meeting at 6:00pm in room #1. The topic for this meeting will be "Emergency First Aid / Common Childhood Diseases". We will have a representative from the health department that will talk to parents in regards to “childhood diseases” and how they can be detected. Drinks and snacks will be served, and child care will be provided. Don't miss it!

Thanks to all of the parents who attended the meeting last month.  We valued your participation and interest in what we do for your children and your family.

VETERAN'S DAY

veterans-day-heartsOn Sunday, November 11th, Americans will celebrate Veterans Day. The special holiday is dedicated to the brave men and women of the armed forces who risk their lives on a daily basis to keep the rest of us safe and free. They include members of the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. They come from all walks of life; they are parents, children and grandparents. They are friends, neighbors and coworkers, and an important part of the community.

We love our veterans!

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. sweet potato purée
1 large egg
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 c. toasted pecans, chopped

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375° and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
