cinco de mayo

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that recognizes the victory of the Mexican army over the French army on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla.  Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day.  Mexican independence is celebrated Sep16.

May 7-11th is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week!  Student and parents take the week to do something to let their teacher(s) (past or present) know that they are appreciated. This could be anything such as a nice card, an email, a gift card, or a piece of chocolate.  The important thing is that you let your teacher know how much you appreciate their hard work and patience.  Thank you for all you do teachers.

Please make sure you RSVP by May 4th if you will be participating in "Muffins with Mom" on Friday, May 10th from 10am-11am.

The Haitian flag has long been a symbol of pride for Haiti.  Haitian Flag Day on Monday, May 18, is all about celebrating the culture and heritage of the Haitian flag, which is emblazoned with the country’s coat of arms and the colors red and blue, adopted from the French flag.  Haiti gained its independence from colonial rule in 1804, making it the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to do so, and the second republic to defeat a European colonial power in the Americas.  Let’s show support by wear red and blue.

focusonfourWe will be offering a 4 year old extension program starting June 4th-July 27th.

Did you know 80% of our students last year, in Focus on Four actually showed improvement in oral, phonetical, math and written skills?  Focus on Four will be returning to PA Geraci this summer!  To reserve your child a spot in our 4 year old extension program you must submit a one-time, non-refundable $20 registration fee.  Your child MUST attend for the entire 8 week program.  Attendance is extremely important.

Tuition is due every Monday.  Tuesday at noon if your payment has not been made your account will be charged a late fee.  If you have already made arrangements to make your payment every two weeks and your payment is not made on that day your account will be charged a late fee.  Late fees will not be reversed once charged.  After two weeks of none payment your child will not be able to return until the account is paid in full.

Parents if your child is sick please keep them home. This year’s flu season is not being nice to us, and we want to keep everyone in good health.  If your child exhibits a temperature, fatigue, diarrhea or vomiting please take them to see a doctor before returning to school.

Hand, foot and mouth disease, is also going around. This is contagious and also requires that your child remains at home until cleared by a doctor.  Some signs of hand, foot and mouth disease are a rash around the mouth, hand and or foot.  It is easily spread.  Symptoms include fever, sore throat, feeling unwell, irritability, and loss of appetite.
