P.A. Geraci Child Development Center News

Home of the Tiny Tigers cute_running_tiger_cub_by_typomazoku-d5u4bz7.gifWe earn our stripes every day!

I would like to take this time to say THANK YOU, to each of you for not only entrusting your precious children here at PA Geraci, but in my care.  I do not take this privilege lightly; you could have chosen anywhere else but you chose us!  So thank you.

2018, is coming to end!  This year has brought us so many memories, tears of joy, growing pains and laughter.  I would like to thank you for all of your support, kind words, encouragement, patience, and most of all dedication to PA Geraci.  You could have chosen anywhere for your child(ren) to attend childcare, but you chose us; and for that I am forever grateful.

Now I need your help; this upcoming year, I will need volunteers to help with project around the center, as well as reading to the children.  Parent nights, family days/nights will take place in 2019.  Volunteers are needed for that as well.

As we end 2018, I would like you to reflect on 2018 and the accomplishments that your child has made here at PA Geraci, and use this as your push for an even better 2019.  The number 19 is an extraordinary number.  In ancient times, it was known as the ‘Number of Surrender’.  It is the prime number that means it is only divisible by itself and number 1. Seeing the number 19 now and then carries an important message for you. It is a virtuous number and brings good news for you, so don’t be confused by all the people saying that it is a bad omen.  Let’s make it great.

A Book for Every Day

A fun advent idea to countdown the days until Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanza. Shop at a children’s consignment store such as “Once Upon a Child” or “Goodwill” to get your books in good condition for only around $1. Also you can get inexpensive books from ordering from our school catalogs through scholastic books. This is a good alternative to candy. Promotes literacy and counting!

Cookie Decorating

Children love to help in the kitchen-it gives them a chance learn about math and to be creative! Share recipes with your child that have been passed down to you from your parents.

Have a Christmas Movie Night

Enjoy those holiday classics, your kids will bound to love them! Make some popcorn and spend some time together!

Dough:holiday reindeer cinnamon roll
1 1/2 Cups whole wheat flour
1 Cup white flour
2 1/2 Tsp. baking powder
3/4 Tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 Tsp. cinnamon (optional)
1 Cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 Cup applesauce
1 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. melted butter
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tsp. cinnamon
Stick Pretzels, Cranberries, red string licorice, raisins, green candies

Mix dry ingredients for dough. Add yogurt and melted butter. Spoon dough onto a heavily-floured surface. Dough will be sticky, so add a little more flour to the top of the dough. Flour hands and knead dough until smooth. Add additional flour if necessary. Roll dough into a rectangular about 1/2 inch thick.

For filling, spread melted butter on dough and sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Starting from longer side, roll dough into coil and cut 2 inch pieces. Set rolls on end in a lightly greased muffin pan and bake at 425 for about 20 minutes. Let cool thoroughly before decorating.
