"The happiest, most successful children have parents who do not do for them what they are capable of doing, or almost capable of doing...

The central task of growing up is to develop a sense of self that is autonomous, confident and generally in accord with reality.  If you treat your walking toddler as if she can’t walk, you diminish her confidence and distort reality.” Empower your child!

On Wednesday, February 7th around 1pm volunteers from Gartner Inc. will be coming to volunteer their time putting on a “Winter Olympics” with the kids.  We are very excited to have them visit our center.  Our VPK and School-Agers will participate.  If your child is not a regular wrap around VPKer and you want them to participate please see Ms. Megan to make arrangements.  The volunteers will talk to the kids about good sportsmanship, create awards/metals and of course play games! It should be a fun afternoon for all.

If you show a little kindness to others it will inspire people to practice kindness and to pass it on to others.  Here are some ideas on how to be kind to others:acts of kindness.png

Make someone laugh - Pick up trash

Open the door for someone - Spend time with someone

Share a toy with a friend Plant a tree

love potion smoothie.jpg

1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1 small carton of yogurt
1/2 cup ice cubes
1 cup apple juice

Place strawberries, raspberries and juice in blender. Blend several seconds.  If you would like a thicker smoothie add more fruit or for a drinkable smoothie add 1/4 cup more juice.  This is one of those Valentine recipes that can be used year round.

Parents please remember that no outside food is permitted into our center unless requested by the teacher.  We want to avoid any issues that outside food can cause and keep our children as safe as possible.  Thank you for your cooperation.

A new DCF policy states that parents are responsible for contacting their child’s school if they are going to be absent or late.  Remember our policy at our center is if your child is going to be later than 10 am you MUST contact us and let us know so we can plan accordingly. Please send me an email at or call the center at 239-369-2220 and let us know.  Please keep your contact information up to date, let Ms. Jessica know if something has changed.
