The center will be CLOSED Tuesday, July 4 for observance of The Independence Day Holiday.  Have a great day with your family and friends celebrating at the beach, on a picnic, or watching fireworks!  Remember to be safe!

 Happy 4th Of July!

July 13th and July 27th we are having our Water Day Activity. Please make sure to send a full change of clothes and a towel for your child and apply sunscreen before dropping your child off for school.

Staying cool during summer is not easy. A yummy way to fight against the summer heat is making cool and refreshing treats. On July 11, we will be making popsicles, and on July 25th we will be making snow cones. We are pretty sure that your children will learn how to make these delicious treats, so don't hesitate to ask them to do them at home too!

Wednesday, July 12th The Hendry County Fire Department will give us a visit. Children really enjoy having the firemen coming to the center and teaching them about fire safety. Parents are always welcome to come and participate in this activity. Who knows, you can learn helpful tips too!

The patriotic palette of this sweet and crunchy mix makes it a perfect choice for your Independence Day celebration.

1 bag (8.75 oz) Chex Mix™ Honey Nut snack mix
1/4 cup dried blueberries
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup roasted sunflower seeds
2 cups white chocolate chips
1/2 cup M&M's™ chocolate candies red and blue

In a large bowl, combine the snack mix, blueberries, cranberries, and sunflower seeds.

Place the white chocolate chips into a medium, microwave-safe bowl. Melt in the microwave on High for 60-90 seconds then stir. Melt for an additional 30-60 seconds, if needed.

Drizzle the melted chocolate over the snack mix, and stir until well coated. Turn the mix out onto a large piece of wax paper, sprinkle with blue and red candies, then allow the white chocolate to stand at room temperature for about 1 hour to harden. To serve, break the mix up into large chunks.

through the Lee County Library System

This year, from May 22 to August 9, the Lee County Library System hopes to inspire our community to “Build a Better World.”
Find activities and events for you and your children.

Some activity challenges include:

  • The floor is lava! Play this favorite game by strategically placing pillows, cushions, and other items on the ground. Leap from one side of the room to the other with your preschooler avoiding the lava floor.
  • Preschoolers are always on the go! But it doesn’t mean they’re not listening to you. Try reading out loud to your child while they play or explore.
  • Encourage your child to read aloud to a favorite stuffed animal or pet. It’s okay if your child is not yet a proficient reader. They can “read” the story by describing what’s happening in the pictures.
  • Think of an act of kindness you can do this week with your preschooler.
