P.A. Geraci Child Development Center News

This past month, our center experienced many changes and improvements because we are dedicated to provide the best quality of early learning education in the area, preparing children for the first years of life, building a strong foundation for them to learn, grow, and succeed, as well as supporting the parents and our community.  Parents and children are very exited about these changes, and we are already seeing positive results. Here are few of the improvements:

  1. We hired and renovated our staff.
  2. Upgraded the security system at the center ( and chimes on entry doors).
  3. We have new supplies for the classrooms.
  4. Improved breakfast, lunch and snack menus.
  5. Repaired 2 classroom toilets.
  6. Repaired a classrooms AC unit.
  7. Replaced items in the kitchen as well as purchased new items.
  8. We will have themed weeks, that include all children.

Tara Devose.jpgMy name is Tara Devose. I am the new director at P.A. Geraci Child Development Center. Education is very important to me, thus my love for laying a solid foundation for children to grow and learn. I take pride in my work, and I work really hard to do the best I can daily in my life and the lives of others. If I can make one person smile, or make their day, I have accomplished my goal for the day. I look forward to working with each one of you.

Hello everyone!

My name Debra Jackson. I am the new Director Assistant. I was born in Columbus, Ga. My family moved to Fort Myers when I was young. I am married to a wonderful man, and I have a 15 yr. old son who is my miracle baby. I have been in Early Child Care for over 19 years because I love children and interacting with their families. I am looking forward to help you in every way possible.

We are so exited to implement our Theme Weeks. Every week the children will engage in theme activities making their learning experience fun, stimulating their imagination, language, social, problem-solving and motor skills.  Students are encouraged to participate in the themed weeks by dressing up (appropriately), and having fun! All age groups are included.

CHEXMIX.jpgThe patriotic palette of this sweet and crunchy mix makes it a perfect choice for your Independence Day celebration.

1 bag (8.75 oz) Chex Mix™ Honey Nut snack mix
1/4 cup dried blueberries
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup roasted sunflower seeds
2 cups white chocolate chips
1/2 cup M&M's™ chocolate candies red and blue

In a large bowl, combine the snack mix, blueberries, cranberries, and sunflower seeds.

Place the white chocolate chips into a medium, microwave-safe bowl. Melt in the microwave on High for 60-90 seconds then stir. Melt for an additional 30-60 seconds, if needed.

Drizzle the melted chocolate over the snack mix, and stir until well coated. Turn the mix out onto a large piece of wax paper, sprinkle with blue and red candies, then allow the white chocolate to stand at room temperature for about 1 hour to harden. To serve, break the mix up into large chunks.

This year, from May 22 to August 9, we hope to inspire our community to “Build a Better World.”
Find activities and events for you and your children.

Some activity challenges include:

  • The floor is lava! Play this favorite game by strategically placing pillows, cushions, and other items on the ground. Leap from one side of the room to the other with your preschooler avoiding the lava floor.
  • Preschoolers are always on the go! But it doesn’t mean they’re not listening to you. Try reading out loud to your child while they play or explore.
  • Encourage your child to read aloud to a favorite stuffed animal or pet. It’s okay if your child is not yet a proficient reader. They can “read” the story by describing what’s happening in the pictures.
  • Think of an act of kindness you can do this week with your preschooler.

2. Early childhood education has a better return on investment than the stock market.

3. The U.S. lags behind almost every other country when it comes to preschool, including Mexico, Chile, and Russia.
