June 1st: Oh donuts!!!

National Donut Day is on the first Friday of June of each year. Did you know that this event was created by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to honor those of their members who served donuts to soldiers during World War I?

Calling all Dad’s and male figures filling in the gaps for absent dads. This day will be all about you! Please come out as we celebrate you. The celebration begins at 10:00am and ends at 11:00am. This does not mean you can’t stay late or come early. If you would like to attend please RSVP in the office with Megan or Tara.

All students are allowed to wear sunglasses all day! Let's celebrate the importance of wearing shades to protect the eyes from the sun’s harsh ultraviolet (UV) rays.


  • The birthstone for June Moonstone or Pearl.
  • The zodiac signs for June are Gemini (May 21 - June 20) and Cancer (June 21 - July 20).
  • The birth flower of June is a Rose or Honeysuckle.
  • June is known for African-American Music Appreciation, and Caribbean American Heritage Month.

We will be offering a 4 year old extension program starting June 4th-July 27th.

Did you know 80% of our students last year, in Focus on Four actually showed improvement in oral, phonetical, math and written skills?  To reserve your child a spot in our 4 year old extension program you must submit a one-time, non-refundable $20 registration fee.  Your child MUST attend for the entire 8 week program.  Attendance is extremely important.

SpongeBob Krispie Treats


Cooking spray, for pankrispietreat
4 tbsp. butter
1 (10-oz.) package marshmallows
6 c. Rice Krispies cereal
Yellow food coloring
White and black gel icing
Blue and yellow mini M&Ms
Red licorice, cut into small pieces


Line a 9-x-13” pan with parchment paper and grease with cooking spray. In a large pot over low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir until melted, then remove pot from heat. 
Stir in yellow food coloring until mixture is very yellow, then stir in Rice Krispies until fully coated. Immediately press cereal mixture into pan. Let cool completely.  
Remove krispy treats from pan, then cut into 9 rectangles. Insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each. 
Using white gel icing, pipe large circles to make eyes, then place blue mini M&Ms on top. 
Using black gel icing, pipe eyelashes above eyes, then pipe a smile.  
Using white gel icing, pipe two teeth under smile.
Use a yellow mini M&M for the nose.  
Place red licorice towards the bottom to make a tie.


The official hurricane season for the Atlantic Basin (the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico) is from June 1st to November 30th.

Basic Disaster Supply Kit

  • Water - one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
  • Food - at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
  • Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert
  • Flashlight
  • First aid kit
  • Extra batteries
  • Whistle to signal for help
  • Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
  • Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
  • Manual can opener for food
  • Local maps
  • Cell phone with chargers and a backup battery


Tuition is due every Monday.  Tuesday at noon if your payment has not been made your account will be charged a late fee.  If you have already made arrangements to make your payment every two weeks and your payment is not made on that day your account will be charged a late fee.  Late fees will not be reversed once charged.  After two weeks of none payment your child will not be able to return until the account is paid in full.
