green-eggs-ham

Ingredients

2 eggs
2 cups spinach, lightly packed
salt and pepper
butter for frying
4 slices black forest ham

Directions

Add the eggs and spinach to a blender.
Blend on high for about a minute and add salt and pepper. Pulse for another minute or so, until the spinach is fully blended.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. When the butter is hot, pour in the egg mixture.
Let it sit for a minute or so until it starts to set, then use a spatula to gently stir it.
Remove from heat when the eggs have just barely set.
In the same pan (or in a separate one while you cook the eggs) heat the ham until it browns slightly.

FUN, EASY WAYS TO PLAY WITH MATH AT HOME

1. Sing songs and chant- Learning a song’s pattern helps children remember the song. Patterns repeat in a predictable way that helps children know what is coming next. Songs like, “Five Green and Speckled Frogs,” or “Five Little Monkeys” teach number order-children count up or down from a number. It also teaches spatial words, like on, in, out, around.

2. Use your fingers- When children count on their fingers, they are strengthening their number knowledge and ability to visualize numbers in their head. You can also use your fingers through art to represent a certain number of objects.

3. Build together- Building with materials like blocks, Legos, Magna-Tiles or Lincoln Logs helps children develop strong spatial skills.

4. Play card games- Games like Memory, Go Fish, War, Uno and Crazy Eights give children practice in recognizing and comparing numbers. They also help children learn to pay attention to things like shape, number and color.

5. Count things all around you- Count how many windows are in your house, how many shoes you have, how many doors are in your house or count how many cups you have in the cupboard. The list can go on and on.
