school busFIELD TRIP!

A field trip to Westside, Eastside and Central Elementary has been scheduled on May 3, 4, and 16.  Preschool children will be spending the morning visiting kindergarten classrooms, having lunch in the lunchroom,  and seeing what “school” is really all about!

On May 23rd we will have a Kindergarten Registration Information Meeting. Peggy Rudd from the Hendry County school board will be here to help and assist parents and answer any questions.  Registration Meeting will be in room #1 at 5:00pm.

End of the year Celebration/Graduation- Our graduate celebration will take place Wednesday, May 30 at 9:30am at the pavilion behind the center.  Each class will perform a song, and the graduates will do “Let’s Move” (a song and dance) that was created by Michelle Obama and Beyonce to get children physically active.  The teachers will be giving comical awards to the children and sharing memories throughout the school year. Mark your calendar! We look forward to sharing this fun day with our families.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAYhappy mothers day

A mother holds a special place in the hearts and minds of her children.  Mother’s Day is May 13th and there is no better way to celebrate than with the whole family.

We’re sure sleeping in on Mother’s Day sounds nice and that having some alone time can make for an enjoyable day.  But doesn’t it sound like a better idea to make this holiday a family day?  We encourage you to get outside and spend some quality time with your kids and loved ones.

Each class will be making Mother’s Day cards for their moms.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers from

Harlem Academy Child Care Center Staff!!

We will be offering a 4 year old extension program starting June 4th-July 27th.

Did you know 80% of our students last year, in Focus on Four actually showed improvement in phonetic, math and written skills?  Focus on Four will be returning this summer!  Attendance is extremely important, please ensure your child is in attendance for the entire 8 week program.  Ms. Queen Moore will be our teacher.  For more information on the program please visit

Try to read with your child every day at a regularly scheduled time.  If possible, choose a time when you can be relaxed and not rushed.  If you have more than one child, spend time reading with each child separately, especially if they’re more than two years apart.  On days that are particularly hectic, bring a few books when you take children along on errands.  Taking time to read to children on a regular basis sends the message that reading is worthwhile.

We are preparing a "Fun Day" for all the children and their families on May 29th. There will be lots of activities, games, food. More details to come!

Memorial Day is a day to remember and support all military families who have sacrificed so much for us.  Display a flag, visit grave sites, and show appreciation for the men and women who have served our country.  Below is a link about the history of Memorial Day and things you can do to show you care.
