Parent Reminders

1. Call the center if your child will be absent from school. DCF requires documentation of absences and it really does help when you remember to let us know.
2. Be sure to use the check-in computer to sign your child into the center every day.
3. READ signs posted on the lobby doors and any signs outside your child’s classroom.
4. VPK parents: Have you ordered the Class of 2031 t-shirt for your child? There is still time!!!  Let Ms. Andrea know the size your child needs and remember the money needs to be paid before the shirt can be made.

Try to read with your child every day at a regularly scheduled time.  If possible, choose a time when you can be relaxed and not rushed.  If you have more than one child, spend time reading with each child separately, especially if they’re more than two years apart.  On days that are particularly hectic, bring a few books when you take children along on errands.  Taking time to read to children on a regular basis sends the message that reading is worthwhile.

There’s a new teacher in the Red Room.  Stop by and introduce yourself to Ms. Rita.  She has lots of experience in the child care field and we are excited that she has joined our FSW family.

Parent Conferences are scheduled for May 7 – May 18, 2018.  Sign-up sheets will be placed outside your child’s classroom.  This is a great opportunity for you and your child’s teacher to discuss the progress your child has made this school year.  This is especially important for VPK children who are moving onto Kindergarten.

focusonfourFOCUS ON FOUR

We are very excited to offer a summer program for our VPK children.  Focus on Four is a summer enrichment program that lasts 8 weeks (June 4 – July 27.)  It will be a continuation of VPK, consistency of routines, and practicing developmental skills.  The curriculum will be based on VPK standards.  We are happy that 16 out of 22 children will be participating in the program that will run from 9am – 1pm Monday – Friday.  If you have not signed up, and want to participate let us know.  (Only Teal Room children are eligible for this program.)

Lifetouch photographers will be at the center May 7 and May 8 to take Spring pictures of your children.  The schedule is as follows:

Monday – Red, Purple and Teal children will be photographed

Tuesday – Blue, Coral and Yellow children will be photographed

I have asked about backgrounds and will let you know as soon as I receive a response.  I know that many of you will want to “color coordinate” your children’s outfits.

A mother holds a special place in the hearts and minds of her children.  Mother’s Day is May 13th and there is no better way to celebrate than with the whole family.

We’re sure sleeping in on Mother’s Day sounds nice and that having some alone time can make for an enjoyable day.  But doesn’t it sound like a better idea to make this holiday a family day?  We encourage you to get outside and spend some quality time with your kids and loved ones.

It’s that time of year again! We need to start planning for summer.  Let us know if your child will be taking a vacation during the summer months.  It is important that we know so that teachers can plan their vacations also!!

graduationOur celebration will take place Friday night, June 1 at 6:30pm.  It will be held at the center on the playground.  Mark your calendar and we look forward to sharing this fun night with family and friends.

Another great way to stay connected is our Facebook page.  If you have a personal Facebook page, find our page…….The Children’s Learning Center at FSW…… and LIKE it.  Now you will be able to see activities around the center or perhaps even your child.

A field trip to Tanglewood Elementary has been scheduled on May 24th.  VPK children will be spending the morning visiting kindergarten classrooms and seeing what “school” is really all about!  Details are still being made and parents will receive ALL information in the very near future.  We do know that we will be riding a Lee County School bus and that we will need several chaperones.  As soon as all the details are in place, Ms. Jenna or Ms. Martha will let you know.
