parent-teacher-conference.jpgParent Conferences will begin Monday, November 13 and run through Wednesday, November 22. This is a time for parents to sit down with their child’s teacher and discuss his or her growth since the school year started. There will be sign-up sheets posted outside each classroom. Please speak with the teachers about setting up a convenient time.

With the holiday season getting into full swing, we know that families will be taking vacations and that your child will potentially miss some days of school.  We ask that you let Ms. Andrea or Ms. Martha know about any days your child will not be in attendance.

WHAT ARE PUMPKIN SEEDS?Pumpkin seeds.jpg

Pumpkin seeds are edible, flat, oval-shaped green seeds. When removed from the flesh of a pumpkin, they can be rinsed and roasted, either plain or with other flavours such as oils and spices, to create a delicious, crunchy snack.

Nutritional benefits of pumpkin seeds:

They may be small, but pumpkin seeds are little powerhouses of nutrients and health benefits. Like nuts, pumpkin seeds are a great source of protein and unsaturated fats, including omega-3. They also contain a good range of nutrients including iron, selenium, calcium, B vitamins and beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A.

Pumpkin seeds' biggest claim to fame is that they are an excellent natural source of magnesium and zinc. Just one tablespoon of pumpkin seeds provides:

•    Almost 1mg zinc - the recommended daily allowance is 9.5mg for men and 7mg for women.
•    32mg magnesium – the recommend daily allowance is 300mg for men and 270mg for women.

  • Gingerbread Play Dough.png1/4 cup Molasses
  • 3/4 cup Cornstarch (corn flour)
  • 4 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 tsp Water
  • 2 Tbls Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Allspice
  • 2 Tbls + 2 tsp Flour

Mix the cornstarch, baking soda, cinnamon, and allspice. Then add the water, oil, and molasses. Add 2 tablespoons of flour. Then keep adding flour 1/2 teaspoon at a time, mixing well after each addition, until your dough is no longer sticky.

Another great way to stay connected is our Facebook page.  If you have a personal Facebook page, find our page…….The Children’s Learning Center at FSW…… and LIKE it. Now you will be able to see activities around the center or perhaps even your child.

We want to thank you for the brochure fundraiser orders.  They have been submitted and we are waiting to hear what our profit will be.  And as soon as we know when the items you purchased will be received, we will inform you.
